What a great day at the Hibou! Fabulous first time out for the "Breakfast in Vegas" show...and rather perfectly, the person who won the free copy of RATS OF LAS VEGAS at the end of the show--the guy who won the poker game--is Roberto, who actually worked in Las Vegas for a little while. So perfect! Una & her team were really welcoming, the weather was great, so after the show, we had a fab late brunch on the patio...in fact, overall, I now want to move to Wakefield, I had such a good time.
In support of the Writers' Trust at a literary salon hosted by Gail & Martin Aller-Stead and Classical Pursuits.
Had a lovely time at the salon--thank you Gail, Don, Ann, Grace, and Martin for the scrumptious food! The real treat with readings is that, afterwards, I get to hear other people's stories. At this salon, a woman told me a wonderful gambling memory: as a child in South India, her great-grandfather took her to the racetrack to bet on the horses. She said she had forgotten all about it until she heard me read from Rats of Las Vegas. "And I loved the horses when I was seven years old," she told me. "The track was different back then, I guess. They didn't mind having a little child running around while they were betting and talking."
I LOVE Montreal. And The Sparrow is quite possibly the classiest bar in town...what a treat, great fellow readers, lovely intro from Karis. Mucho thanks, everyone!
Talk about coming home...Montreal is a great city & it was a real treat to read here, surrounded by old friends & family. The Atwater has a great reading series, and I was thrilled to read accompanied by the wonderful sax player Dave Turner.
